Accelerated Pathway to a Counseling Career

For students who feel called to professional counseling, Crown offers an accelerated B.S. to M.A. pathway, allowing qualified undergraduates to begin taking graduate-level counseling courses during their senior year. This option saves time and tuition while providing a seamless transition into Crown’s Master of Arts in Counseling program—designed to meet licensure requirements in Minnesota and other states.

Graduates of the Psychology/Counseling program are well-prepared for advanced studies in counseling, social work, or related fields and are equipped to serve others with both competence and compassion.

Accelerated Masters Program

Crown provides a fast-track accelerated program for those who know they want to complete a master’s degree in counseling and become licensed professional counselors. This program will save students an entire year of classes, which in turn saves a lot of money.

Pursuing my bachelor’s in psychology/counseling and my master’s in counseling is an aspiration I would never have even thought possible a few years ago. I have learned so much within this program and have been equipped with resources and professors that lay out each step and make sure we are secure in them until we master the next. 

I am a flight attendant with a crazy and unpredictable schedule. On top of that I am trying to live the rest of my 20’s as fully as possible. I have taken Crown College with me in so many different countries, airports, and time zones. The online program and its professors have been incredibly accommodating no matter what corner of the globe I’m in.

PSY 3542 - Methods of Counseling

Designed to teach interviewing and basic counseling skills, this course is practice-oriented. The application of counseling theory and interpersonal dynamics to the counseling process will be explained. Emphasis is placed on the acquisition of skills which will enable the student to establish, guide the session, and define the nature of the problem and goals for change, while monitoring the essential components of the counseling relationship.

PSY 337 - Understanding Psychopathology

The classification and description of mental disorders are introduced. Diagnosis, causes, treatment, and prevention of the most common mental disorders are discussed. Psychopathology and mental health are considered from the perspective of the whole person as biological, psychological, social and spiritual.

PSY 431X - Social Psychology

Social psychology is the scientific study of how people think about, influence, and relate to one another. This course examines key theoretical approaches in the field with emphasis upon their application for people relating together in various contexts. (Also SOC 431X)

FAQs

Online education uses digital technology and the internet to deliver educational content. Our courses are built to be 8-week courses. Students can access lectures, assignments, and resources through our online platform, Canvas. Communication with instructors and peers often occurs through discussion forums, video conferencing, and email.
Requirements may vary, but generally, students need a reliable computer and internet connection.
Online exams and assessments can take various forms, including multiple-choice quizzes, essays, and timed exams. Most classes utilize discussion posts each week, due every Thursday. All of these are available on our online program Canvas.
We generally accept credits from accredited institutions as long as the student maintained a C or higher in the course. To see a full list of what classes will transfer, you can visit Transferology or contact our registrar office at registrar@crown.edu.
