Our Theology

Our Core Beliefs

Statement of Faith

What we believe forms who we are. We are first and foremost centered on Jesus. This is the foundation that our community is built on. Jesus is also the basis for our dedication to craft.

We believe students should receive a quality education and be equipped for the workforce. We want all of our students to influence the world, wherever God leads them.

God, Jesus, + the Holy Spirit

There is one God, who is infinitely perfect, existing eternally in three persons.

Jesus Christ is true God and true man. He was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. He died upon the cross, the Just for the unjust, as a substitutionary sacrifice, and all who believe in Him are justified on the grounds of His shed blood. He arose from the dead according to the Scriptures. He is now at the right hand of the Majesty on high as our great High Priest. He will come again to establish His kingdom of righteousness and peace.

The Holy Spirit is a divine person sent to indwell, guide, teach, and empower the believer and convince the world of sin, of righteousness, and of judgment.

The Bible, the Fall, + Salvation

The Old and New Testaments, inerrant as originally given, were verbally inspired by God and are a complete revelation of His will for our salvation. They constitute the divine and only rule of Christian faith and practice.

Man was originally created in the image and likeness of God: he fell through disobedience, incurring thereby both physical and spiritual death. All men are born with a sinful nature, are separated from the life of God, and can be saved only through the atoning work of the Lord Jesus Christ. The portion of the impenitent and unbelieving is existence forever in conscious torment; and that of the believer, in everlasting joy and bliss.

Salvation has been provided through Jesus Christ for all men; those who repent and believe in Him are born again of the Holy Spirit, receive the gift of eternal life, and become the children of God.

Sanctification + Healing

It is the will of God that each believer should be filled with the Holy Spirit and be sanctified wholly, being separated from sin and the world and fully dedicated to the will of God, thereby receiving power for holy living and effective service. This is both a crisis and a progressive experience wrought in the life of the believer subsequent to conversion.

Provision is made in the redemptive work of the Lord Jesus Christ for the healing of the mortal body. Prayer for the sick and anointing with oil are taught in the Scriptures and are privileges for the Church in this present age.

The Church, the Second Coming, + the End Times

The Church consists of all those who believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, are redeemed through His blood, and are born again of the Holy Spirit. Christ is the head of the Body – the Church – which has been commissioned by Him to go into all of the world as a witness, preaching the gospel to all nations. The local church is a body of believers in Christ who are joined together for the worship of God, for edification through the Word of God, for prayer, fellowship, the proclamation of the gospel, and observance of the ordinances of baptism and the Lord’s Supper.

There shall be a bodily resurrection of the just and of the unjust. For the former, a resurrection unto life; for the latter, a resurrection unto judgment.

The second coming of the Lord Jesus Christ is imminent and will be personal, visible, and pre-millennial. This is the believer’s blessed hope and is a vital truth, which is an incentive to holy living and faithful service.

Our Affiliation

Christian + Missionary Alliance

What is the Christian and Missionary Alliance? The C&MA serves over 70 countries across the globe. By joining Crown, you are joining a global network of influencers.

If you are an Alliance licensed worker, we offer substantial discounts for your degree programs. Contact Admissions for details.

From the very beginning in 1916, Crown College has been aligned with the Christian and Missionary Alliance denomination. While students attending Crown come from many different church denominations, Crown is one of four Christian and Missionary Alliance colleges in the United States. Today, more than five million Christians from 81 different countries call themselves “Alliance.”

The Alliance is a light-bearing, Jesus-centered missions and church-planting movement with deeper life at its heart. Instead of being a denomination intent on building its own kingdom, the Alliance is a people who take action out of love for Jesus Christ that compels them to fulfill His last command on earth: The Great Commission (Matthew 28:18-20).

Living in Christian Community

Crown College is a Christ-centered community that emphasizes spiritual transformation, academic excellence, and global engagement. We affirm our desire to love the Lord with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength and our neighbor as ourselves. We agree together to the following standards that reinforce and support our love of God and each other.

We commit to the Word of God as our authority. The Bible is without error in what it teaches and is our ultimate authority for what to believe and how to behave (2 Timothy 3:16).

We commit to the Lordship of Christ. As Christ’s followers, we are called to live in humble submission to Him (Colossians 2:6, Luke 6:46). Jesus desires a personal relationship with every individual and invites us to enter into new life through the power of the Holy Spirit (Ephesians 5:18). In submission to Christ’s authority, we commit ourselves to His Church, to prayer, worship, Bible study, fasting, discipleship, witnessing, and using our time, gifts, and finances for His glory.

We commit to live out Christian character toward one another. We believe God calls us to develop spiritually, physically, intellectually, emotionally, and socially (Luke 2:52).

The Bible calls us to love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control (Galatians 5:22-23). We are to be people who forgive, who demonstrate humility, hospitality, integrity, generosity, who care for the oppressed, and who are committed to justice and the recognition of the rights and needs of others. This occurs when we submit to the indwelling power of the Holy Spirit.

Living out Christ’s character also requires us to say “no” to our sinful nature. We are to put away behaviors such as abusive anger, malice, jealousy, lust, sexually immoral behavior (e.g., all sexual relations outside the bounds of marriage between a man and a woman), impure desires, prejudice (based on race, gender, or socioeconomic status), greed, idolatry, slander, profanity, lying, drunkenness, stealing, and dishonesty (1 Corinthians 6:9-11; Galatians 5:19-21). We need the transforming power of Christ for change to take place in these areas (Romans 12:1-2).

We commit to this Community Covenant and the expectations outlined in the Student and Employee handbooks. This is binding for all who choose to become part of the Crown College Community including the Board of Trustees, employees of Crown College, ministry students in the School of Online Studies & Graduate School, and students in the School of Arts and Sciences.

We will hold each other accountable to these commitments (Galatians 6:1, Matthew 18). For those who disregard these commitments, appropriate action will be taken to reconcile, discipline, or even dismiss from Crown College. We will strive to have all disciplinary procedures characterized by Christian love.

This Community Covenant is subject to change only by action of the Board of Trustees.
The Student Handbook is applied to students of the School of Arts + Sciences attending our MN campus.
