Nursing Degree Programs
About the Nursing Department
The mission of Crown College is to provide biblically-based education for Christian leadership in professional careers, the church-at-large, and around the world. Accreditation criteria to ensure quality and integrity of post-secondary education have been met by the college through the North Central Association of Higher Learning Commission and the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). The college declares a commitment to academic excellence by providing a learning environment and opportunities that equip students with knowledge, skills, and attitudes to be effective in their career and life.
The Nursing Degree Program
The nursing program at Crown College complements the college’s commitment to academic excellence by preparing highly qualified nursing professionals who practice Christian compassion and caring in a variety of global health care environments. Students who graduate with a Bachelor of Science (BSN) degree in nursing are academically prepared to enter the work force as a new graduate nurse.
Program curriculum and teaching methodologies are structured within a 4-year education plan to meet the requirements for entry level practice. A liberal education based on the sciences and the arts as well as Christian studies establishes groundwork for students. They gain content needed for practice, and develop appreciation of the views and values of others. Students within our program understand the value of community. There is a shared faith and focus on Christ that calls for an openness and understanding of peoples of all faiths, including those who do not express a faith. It leads to a place where the mind, body, spirit, and emotions of the individual can be cared for holistically.
Crown College nursing graduates rank high in passing the NCLEX-RN (National Council Licensure Examination), a nationwide examination for the licensing of nurses in the United States. In 2016, 86.67% of Crown’s graduating class passed the NCLEX-RN as first-time testers, making them highly competitive for new graduate positions within weeks of obtaining their BSN degree.
Coursework is structured to provide students with multiple opportunities to participate in off-campus clinical settings such as hospitals, clinics and public health agencies. The Crown College Nursing Intervention Lab is equipped with technology that gives students the chance to develop knowledge, skills, and attitudes required for professional practice. In addition, web-based programs are integrated across the curriculum to create real-world experiences for students.
We will reinstate our RN-BSN program through Crown College online degree program starting fall 2017. Students with a current RN license will be eligible to complete the needed course work to obtain a baccalaureate degree in nursing within an 18 to 20 month period.
What Can I Do with a Nursing Degree from Crown College?
The Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is a degree that prepares students for many opportunities. This can involve everything from a flight nurse to a missionary in the Congo. BSN-prepared nurses function in government, leadership, schools and beyond. The BSN helps nurses develop a level of critical thinking that has been statistically proven to enhance the quality of patient care. Hands down, the Bachelor of Science in Nursing is the key to a career where the sky is the limit.
Why Choose Our Nursing Degree Program?
The Crown nursing program is based on the guiding principle that we can demonstrate healing compassion as the hands and feet of Christ.
