What’s happening at Crown?
College goes beyond the classroom — it’s an experience. That’s why Crown always has something going on, and you’ll enjoy fantastic events created with you in mind. Whether it’s a local outing or a special event on campus, there is something for everyone!
Come cheer on the Storm! Enjoy a game at Old National Bank Stadium, Wild Athletic Center, or one of our other sporting locations. Wear white and purple, and show your Storm pride. If you’re lucky, you may even get to hang out with Storm the Polar Bear!
First impressions count. That’s why we pack the first week before school starts with enthralling activities — all designed to help you bond with other first-year students and prep you for the beginning of your college career. Crown’s Welcome Week is a truly memorable time that you won’t want to miss.
When you’re an alum, you’ll want to come home to your alma mater. However, there is plenty to do as a student. Enjoy the day’s events, including the cardboard Regatta, family activities, and (of course) the big game.
We’re blessed to have a campus with many bodies of water. Every fall during Homecoming, it’s a tradition for teams of students, employees, and alumni to race across Miller Pond in boats made of cardboard and duct tape. Some may fall, but many will prevail!
Join fellow students, faculty, and staff for one of the most anticipated nights of the year. This totally hilarious, lip-synced, choreographed, and fiercely competitive music madness is an annual highlight where the everyday student can become a Mock Rockstar.
Chillax and listen to Crown’s talented performers in the laid-back ambiance of the Sherburne Ave Coffee Shop. Whether it’s an original song, a spoken word, or an artist’s rendition, this a great time to grab a cup of Joe and a board game for a night of good vibes.
Come together in our awe-inspiring chapel to explore worship through art. In reverence of the ultimate Creator, discover how you can use art to connect with and glorify Jesus.
24 Hour Film Fest
Never made a film before? This is your chance! Hear the requirements Friday night, and then write, shoot, and edit your film in less than 24 hours. The short films premiere the evening of the end of the competition on Saturday night.
The annual Global and Local Outreach Week (GLO Week) inspires students to reach out to our communities and share the gospel. The week holds tons of mission-focused events, speakers, and workshops.
Allen Film Fest
Lights, camera, film fest! Our students plan all year to showcase their beautiful stories at the Allen Film Fest. Named after one of the founding professors of the communication program, the Allen Film Fest is truly a night to remember.
The annual week-long game of Paranoia will have you on your toes. Every player receives the name of a target to tag — the goal is to collect as many names as possible. With only a few safe zones on campus, players navigate getting in-and-out of class without getting out of the game. Get ready to feel paranoid.
The Crown Escape Room
Think you have what it takes to solve the problems and escape the room? Each year, a new storyline and puzzle define the challenge for groups of students. Whether it is an old conspiracy theory or a sentient AI robot, you’ll be sure to have a great time attempting to escape the room.
Fall is the favorite season of many of our students, and the annual Harvest Fest celebrates the favorites of the season: flannels, hot apple cider, bonfires, caramel apples, and so much more. Commemorate the crisp air and fall colors while creating memories with fellow friends.
The Mall of America is 4,870,000 square feet. In other words, it’s the perfect size for a giant game of hide-and-seek — and it’s just over 30 minutes from campus. Search for professors who have disguised themselves and spend an evening with friends as you hunt (and shop) to win the grand prize.
Late Night Live
“And now, your host…” Watch the live comedy sketch show that promises to keep you laughing. Grab some snacks, some friends, and maybe even some coffee for a night of comedy!
Faith + Film
Get chapel credit while watching a movie with friends. Each month, the Film Coalition chooses a film to watch. After the film, a guest leads the group in a discussion of how the philosophy of the film impacts our faith.
Monthly Movie Night
Sometimes you just want to watch something on the big screen! Come together and watch a flick. When the weather is nice, we even project the movie outdoors in the courtyard. Fire up the popcorn machine!
Night Mystery Game
Grab some friends and hone your detective skills. Peruse through Main and uncover clues to find out who did it. Gather hints from captivating characters (faculty and staff alike), but don’t trust everything you hear — there may be bad eggs in the bunch.
Celebrate the season’s joys with your fellow Crownies. Though we part ways for winter break, our Crown Christmas commemoration concludes at the annual Christmas Party. Come for Christmas cookies, a cacophony of carols, and maybe even a visit from Santa.
Super Bowl Party
Whether you are there for the football, the food, or the funny commercials, this party has it all. Enjoy classic “Big Game” food while you cheer on your favorite team on the big screen in the Sherburne Coffee Shop.
It’s a dress-to-the-nines kind of night! Sometimes, you just need a reason to dress your best, and the Formal Gala presents the perfect opportunity. Celebrate seniors with the classiest event of the year.
When do you get a chance to dance the night away with Storm Troopers, Wonderwoman, and the apostle Paul? Probably never. But if you do, it’ll be at the Halloween Dance! Come dressed up for a night characterized by its many characters, and get your cha-cha slide on.
Once every semester, Crown allots extra time to go back to our intrinsic Christian and Missionary Alliance roots with a special chapel series. The Deeper Life series focuses on different aspects each time, but the main goal remains the same: to go deeper with Jesus.
As Christians, we believe that we are growing in every aspect of life, not just academically. Relationships can be complicated, and this week asks the hard questions to help you navigate through tough relationship situations.
Just for the girls! It’s a time that’s all about engaging the whole woman in mind, body, and soul, as she grows in her belief that she is capable of immeasurably more as an image-bearer of Christ. Join together to grow together and be better equipped to live out your calling.
