Steve Tebbs was named the Director of Athletics in January 2024. Tebbs oversees all 18 NCAA Division III athletics programs competing in the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference.
In his first 18 months, Crown athletics achieved record academic success with 161 student-athletes named as UMAC Academic All-Conference recipients for the 2024-25 year. The women’s track and field team won the team award for highest GPA with a team GPA of 3.65, while the Polars men’s basketball team led the conference with 15 Academic All-UMAC awards. The Polars have also won three UMAC conference titles in that time span, with baseball capturing the 2024 championship and women’s indoor and outdoor track and field taking home the trophies in 2025. Also, the men’s basketball team won the NCCAA (National Christian College Athletic Association) DII National Championship in March of 2024 defeating North Central University.
A native Californian, Tebbs brings over 25 years of leadership within athletics having spent 1999-2016 as the Director of Athletic Facilities and Operations at Sacramento State, an NCAA Division I institution, where he managed all game day aspects, as well as the facility maintenance. He also served as the Operations Manager for the Sacramento Kings from 2016-2017. In that role, he oversaw the post construction FF&E for the Golden1 Center while leading the operations team for all events. Prior to Crown, Tebbs spent five years as a Professor of Sports Management at North Central University.
Tebbs obtained his undergraduate degree in Communications and Public Relations from Sacramento State. He received his masters degree in Sport Management from Western Kentucky University.
