READY FOR THE WORLD
It’s beyond academic excellence. It’s about preparing our students for what God has for them. Learn the theory and then build on that foundation. By providing real-world experience students can be ready for the workforce. We want them to discover their passion, what they are good at, and then take that out into the world.
Ready to Learn
Most are aware that gaining a college degree puts you ahead of your peers a decade down the road. Education is important and valuable; however, not all education is created equally. That is why Crown focuses on developing students that not only gain the theory of a subject but can practically use the skills they take from the classroom to the field.
LEARNING THAT COUNTS
Beyond the Campus
Not all learning is created equal. More than ever employers are looking to hire individuals that not only grasp the basic principles but can go beyond to actually produce results. Our courses are continually working towards providing practical experiences that enhance our students’ degrees. When our students graduate, we want them ready to influence the world for Jesus by being good at what they love!
A large part of college is learning how to learn. Public speaking, math, science, and other foundational skills are core curriculums of a liberal arts degree. Students learn more about the world and set a foundation on how to communicate well, interact with others, and problem-solve in more profound ways, establishing a firm foundation for the specifics of whatever degree they are pursuing.
Once students enter their major, this translates into learning the fundamental theories that apply to their field of study. Learning these helps our students to explore different ways of doing things. Ultimately, they can take this knowledge beyond graduation into the workforce.
Many of our programs provide the opportunity to gain real-life experience through a practicum or internship. Students learn to deal with supervisors who are interested in training up the student to be proficient in the field. Our students love taking the knowledge that they learned in class and applying that in the world. Street Smart.
We believe part of being fully equipped is to understand how faith impacts our students’ life. Work, relationships, or any other part of life should be affected by Jesus. That is why all students study the Bible, the Christian faith, and the practical way that faith impacts everyday life. Students are challenged to answer hard questions and determine what “faith lived out” really looks like beyond college.
Ready for Life
Though no person is ever truly “ready for life,” college can help our students feel prepared to take on the world. Our goal is to launch them into the world equipped to do a skill well, to continually be a self-feeding follower of Jesus who can continue to grow and to influence those around them. By providing knowledge beyond the classroom, we hope that they will go into the world ready to deal with finances, spouses, family tension, work issues, and whatever else life brings their way.
We believe good mental health is so important. Our Counseling Center has continued to grow to offer students struggling with mental health issues an ear to listen and a voice to guide. Our licensed counselors are on-campus and ready to help students face life’s difficulties. Sometimes, we just need someone to talk to, and our counselors are expert listeners and advisors equipped to help them improve their mental health.
The Career Center offers coaching on how to develop students’ career confidence and establish connections for their future careers. Networking opportunities take place throughout the academic year, and they can receive one-on-one guidance from professionals that help them to discover where God wants them to go and how to get there. By engaging with the Career Center in the early years of their college journey, they can be proactive in preparation for entering the job field straight out of college.
