Be Known

The design of our resident halls promotes camaraderie with others on our students’ floor. When they need a friend, they can look to their roommates and floormates. We staff every floor with an RA (Resident Assistant) that supports others and makes the college experience the best it can be.

Crown’s smaller campus allows students to know our faculty and staff personally. Our mail center workers, our baristas, and even the registrar’s office employees know students by name. Our professor’s doors are always open to chat with students about whatever is on their mind. They will find that Crown is a place where they can be known personally and connect with anyone who works there.

We believe good mental health is so important. Our Counseling Center has continued to grow to offer students struggling with mental health issues an ear to listen and a voice to guide. Our licensed counselors are on-campus and ready to help students face life’s difficulties. Sometimes, we just need someone to talk to, and our counselors are expert listeners and advisors equipped to help them improve their mental health.

It’s a regular occurrence for students to visit faculty and staff’s home for dinner or dessert. Times like these are their chance to get to know people who want them to succeed. It’s also a chance to get off the campus and to get a home-cooked meal. Quality time and authentic conversation is a shared value of our community.

Crown has always been a place that propels personal and spiritual growth. One of the best ways to do this is to find a mentor. Every year, faculty and staff sign up to be mentors for students. Students can find someone further along in their faith to help them think through what it means to follow Jesus. They may be meeting for relationship questions, faith questions, academic questions, or all of the above. Whatever the case may be, our faculty and staff love to get to know students on a personal level.

The Career Center offers coaching on how to develop career confidence and establish connections for students’ future careers. Networking opportunities take place throughout the academic year, and they can receive one-on-one guidance from professionals that help them to discover where God wants them to go and how to get there. By engaging with the Career Center in the early years of their college journey, they can be proactive in preparation for entering the job field straight out of college.
