1. How did you originally hear about PSEO and decide to sign up?
I first heard about PSEO from my two older brothers. Both took part in the program. I decided to do PSEO because it was a great opportunity to challenge myself academically. I wanted to step outside of my comfort zone, and this early education program did just that. Through PSEO I can choose from a wider range of classes.
2. Why did you choose Crown?
I picked Crown because of the community on campus. Crown feels like home, even as a PSEO student. I also chose Crown because of the talented professors. I have learned so much from the professors, and they are helpful in every way.
3. How do you balance being in high school and college at the same time?
Balancing high school and college can be hard. The key is to plan. Keep up with your work from day one. I make weekly and monthly schedules for school. Forgetting assignments can be easy. Write them all down and put them on your schedule. Another tip: do not be afraid to ask for help. Many people can help you if you are struggling. Lastly, make sure to take time for yourself. The school year gets stressful. Remember to take breaks and live healthily.
4. What advice do you have for other students considering PSEO?
It’s an excellent opportunity to grow as a student and as a person. My advice for students considering this program is to know your high school requirements. You have to make sure that you can finish high school while being a PSEO student. Also, you should decide for yourself. It is alright to want to stay in high school.
5. How do you feel this could prepare you for a future job?
PSEO is helping me prepare for a job by providing me with experience and knowledge. I have learned a great deal which I would not have learned from high school. I have received help with my resumé, with interviews, and with how to find a job. The program also shows my future employers my success in the classroom.
6. Why is PSEO a good idea for high school students?
The PSEO program can help high school students grow. It gives you an opportunity to discover more about yourself. I have gained a better idea of what interests me and what I want to do with my future. Another advantage of the PSEO program is the financial aspect. You can gain some college credits for free as a PSEO student.
7. What are some things you’ve learned about the PSEO program that surprised you?
As a PSEO student, you have free time and independence. Unlike high school, there is not someone telling you what to do the whole time. You can choose to go to class and study, but you do not have to all day long. The independence forces you to stay disciplined. I have learned to manage my time wisely and have become more independent.
