A Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Finance will be available this fall 2020 as part of the Business and Sport Management Department. This program leverages the strengths of our faculty to serve the growing job market.
The Bureau of Labor Statistics shows a “much faster than average growth” (11%) projected for the finance industry. This program prepares students to enter the financial industry across all sectors, including financial institutions, government, and nonprofit corporations. The Provost, Scott Moats, commented, “We are moving forward as an institution and offering our students more opportunities.”
The business department will also offer a new minor in entrepreneurship. This minor will allow students to explore business concepts, and provide a comprehensive knowledge of accounting, management, and marketing as these areas relate to entrepreneurial business.
“We wanted to create a program that allows students to take a concept for a business and to use the classroom as a vehicle to begin to get it off the ground.”
— Jonathon Vinson, Assistant Professor of Communication
Though students will learn an entrepreneurial framework, this interdisciplinary minor starts the implementation of students’ new business ventures.
