Crown College hosted the largest job fair in school history this week, attracting 42 participating companies. Filling the Wild Athletic Center with booths and attracting the entire student body during chapel, the annual event is one of the best opportunities for students to engage with prospective employers for internships and summer jobs.
Participating companies included KleinBank, College Nannies + Tutors, Ironwood Springs Christian Ranch, PULSE, Valleyfair, and Northwestern Mutual Twin Cities. Around a half dozen Christian camps, including several that offer summer internships and scholarship programs, were in attendance, along with several Christian ministries like Timber Bay and Cru.
One of the organizations called PULSE is looking for students to get involved in their outreach events, concerts, and prayers teams. They hold over 150 events each year. The ministry has plans to hold an event at U.S Bank stadium in Minneapolis. For more information about applying, see this link: http://pulsemovement.com/employment/
Darren Noble, M.A., is the Director of Office of Career Services at Crown who organized the event. Noble says the job fair was the largest ever and a rare opportunity for students.
“We’re getting enough variety so that you can find a company or organization that would be of interest to you.” says Noble, noting that the feedback from students was extremely positive.
“It gets you thinking about what you want to do for internships in the future.” says Jake Sporleder, a sophomore at Crown College majoring in Sports Management. Angela Xiong, a senior at Crown College, added that the job fair is a great place to make connections.
Noble explained that students who missed the job fair can still find out more information about the employers and ask questions about an internship or summer job. You can send him an email, a tweet, visit him at LinkedIn or find a time to meet with him in person. He would be happy to sit down and talk about what opportunities are available and what would be a good fit.
The Crown College Career 360 Job/Internship Fair was co-sponsored by Minnesota Reading Corps & Math Corps, the Lake Minnetonka Shores/Presbyterian Homes and Services, College Nannies + Tutors of Excelsior, and Camp Rivercrest Employers.
