A large, lemon-yellow dome stands in a gravel parking lot beside Highway 169 in Jordan, MN. A few feet away from the dome, a sign with brightly-colored painted lollipops and blue letters reading Minnesota’s Largest Candy Store welcomes visitors.

According to the site Tripadvisor.com, Minnesota’s Largest Candy Store ranks second out of fifteen recommended things to do in Jordan, MN. The visiting duration is typically up to one hour, which makes sense, as there are plenty of displays to explore.

Food and More–Novelties Galore

The Largest Candy Store offers rows and rows of different kinds of candy, each split into its own sections. Visitors may select from items such as taffy, mints, gummies, chocolate, cookies, pies, and more. Additionally, the store displays and sells candies from many different countries including Japan, Canada, Holland, and Germany.

But this store sells more than just sweets. Visitors may also buy Wisconsin cheese and novelty toys, as well as a variety of puzzles lined up on shelves above the candy sections. Perhaps these puzzles are a nod to the record-setting 40,000-piece Disney-themed puzzle outside the store, or simply a component of the fun atmosphere indoors. They certainly make for good eye candy–besides the edible candy below them.

You might see giant models of the Millenium Falcon and the Death Star suspended from a sci-fi-inspired ceiling mural, or wax figures of Marvel heroes and DC villains standing in front of a painted cityscape.
Delightful Displays

Adding to the Largest Candy Store’s atmosphere are the creative ceiling murals and wax statues displayed high above visitors’ heads. The store is divided into different sections with unique themed murals relating to pop culture. You might see giant models of the Millenium Falcon and the Death Star suspended from a sci-fi-inspired ceiling mural or wax figures of Marvel heroes and DC villains standing in front of a painted cityscape. Additionally, there are plenty of ground-floor decorations perfect for a photo op, including Iron Man and Hulk statues and an animatronic candy band at one end of the store.

Fun With Friends

The Largest Candy Store makes for a great place to adventure with other Crownies on the weekend. When my friends and I visited, we had fun exploring all the different aisles and the variety of candies that caught our attention. Of course, we all walked out with a new treasure, whether it was an exotic sweet that we wanted to try or a classic we already loved. For us, visiting the Largest Candy Store was a fun way to take a break from classwork and relax. Being close to great attractions like this is just one of the benefits of being a Crown College student.

Fortunately, the store does not have to be a one-time visit. Because it is packed with a variety of wacky items, it can be easy to miss a display or two when you’re traveling through. The Largest Candy Store could be a great destination for weekend breaks, especially if you want to bring more friends who haven’t been to it yet. The best part is that it is less than a half-hour drive away from Crown, making for a relatively quick and inexpensive adventure for college students on a budget
