In a recent survey conducted by the Crown College Career Services department, last year’s graduating class from the Crown College School of Arts and Sciences have a much lower unemployment rate (2.1%) compared to the nation’s current unemployment rate of 7.3 percent. Nearly 70% are employed in positions that directly relate to their specific major.
In addition, 11% of last year’s graduates are currently enrolled in graduate school; 25% plan to enroll in graduate school within the next two years.
Organizations where last year’s Crown graduates are working include: Google, Target, Wells Fargo Home Mortgage, Dell Inc., Schwan’s Consumer Brands, Thomson Reuters, TreeHouse, Youth for Christ, Mayo Clinic, Ridgeview Medical Center, Park Nicollet Health, Abbott Northwestern Hospital, Wayzata Public Schools, Minnesota Reading Corps, Del Monte Agency, and more including churches throughout the U.S.
Those who are enrolled in graduate schools are attending Crown’s Graduate School, Wheaton, American University (Washington, D.C.), Liberty, Denver Seminary, Midwest Center for Theological Studies, University of Wisconsin, and others.
The survey was sent to Crown’s 133 graduates from 2011-12, with a 72% response rate. One of the reasons for the high employment rate was the fact that nearly 80% of the respondents said that they participated in some form of practical experience opportunities offered by the College. These include internships, clinicals, student teaching, practicum work and/or part-time or summer jobs related to the major.
One of the most popular areas on Crown’s website is the Career Services link, which is updated frequently.
