Before Crown, what did you do?

My teaching experience includes: second and fifth grades in the Las Vegas Public Schools for seven years, first grade in the Hopkins Public Schools for three years, fifth grade in the Bloomington Public schools for one year, sixth grade at Bethany Academy for nine years, elementary principal at Bethany Academy for four years, and sixth grade at Christian Life School for one year.

My Testimony:

My parents were faithful to bring me to church every Sunday, but I did not acknowledge Christ’s ownership of my life until I was 18. God used Billy Graham’s preaching on the radio in my high school days to prepare me for a life given over to Christ. On my first day of college at the University of Minnesota two men from the Navigators shared the good news of Jesus Christ with me. That afternoon the Lord had mercy on me, and I became a “new creation in Christ”. These men discipled me in the areas of Bible study, prayer, evangelism and fellowship. God immediately removed my foul tongue and began to heal me spiritually, emotionally, and mentally. Since then I have been privileged to see others come to Christ, including many of my family members.

Favorite Bible verse and why?

Isaiah 66:1,2 Thus says the Lord, “Heaven is My throne and the earth is My footstool. Where then is a house you could build for Me? And where is a place that I may rest? For My hand made all these things, thus all these things came into being,” declares the Lord. “But to this one I will look, to him who is humble and contrite of spirit, and who trembles at My word.”

We are called to take God’s Word as truth, and this requires that we stand on His testimony, not the world’s. I choose to believe God’s Word over fallacies like evolution, relativism, and selfishness.

What do you enjoy most about teaching at Crown?

As a new faculty member at Crown College, I am privileged to be laboring alongside wise and dedicated disciplers of young men and women. I work to equip the next generation of teachers with the tools and wisdom they will need to “Go, and make disciples of all nations.”

How do you define “Academic Excellence?”

Academic excellence is about stewardship of the mind. Academically, this means students should know the Scriptures well (2 Timothy 2:2), should be open to learning new ideas from others, and should study hard to master the content of their coursework. This involves integrity, honesty, patience and self-control. College is hard work and excellent Christian students bring glory to God.

What would your students say about taking your classes?

In the past, students have indicated that they felt cared about and believed in. I have high expectations for each of my students because they have a high calling from God – to labor to bring others to Christ as they work in their chosen field.
