    • The more competitive the internship is, the earlier you look. Start at least 6 months before you actually need to do your internship. Keep looking because they are posted continually.

Training will include classroom and field instruction. New instructors will finish this experience with field assignments, working to facilitate a wilderness experience for high school students.   • DUTIES:The Coldwater Wilderness Instructor Training Internship is an 8 week intensive training in wilderness leadership available to students who have completed the Wilderness Learning Expedition (WLE). Participants will receive comprehensive instruction in all facets of wilderness ministry, including wilderness first aid, risk management, minimum impact wilderness ethic, and the role of the instructor in both processing and technical skills. Training will include classroom and field instruction. New instructors will finish this experience with field assignments, working to facilitate a wilderness experience for high school students. Principles of leadership and experiential education are highly transferable to a variety of life settings (ie: education, people management, youth and pastoral ministry, as well as outdoor leadership). This is a program for students who are ministry-minded, love to work with people and who are looking for a dynamic and engaging field experience to challenge and hone their capabilities as a leader and as a teacher.   • DUTIES:Internship objectives Provide students with an enriching professional growth experience in event planning; encourage problem solving skills during the planning of a variety of events; and give students practical career experience in event planning. Internship Responsibilities Assist the Reservations Office designing, planning and implementing all aspects of execution for the wide variety of events the Arboretum hosts. Help in set up, rooming coordination, and hosting events. Assist the Day-Of Reservations staffer with the management of events and weddings. Additional internship activities will include weekly meetings with arboretum staff and meeting with potential clients. Students will be assigned a project to complete during their time at the Arboretum. Potential topics include, but are not limited to: overhauling wedding information packets; designing better modes of communication between departments; creating more effective planning system.
