The core and purpose of our Christian Ministry Department is The Great Commission, our Lord’s mandate to his followers “to make disciples" (Matthew 28:19, 20). Through five B.S. and B.A. degree programs, the department prepares students for vocational leadership in church and church-related ministries at home and around the world, equipping them with the transformational skills necessary to make disciples of all ages.

Why Choose Crown's Christian Ministry?

At the heart of each degree program is a half-year internship. Innovated 20 years ago, the internship was the first of its kind in the country. This extended opportunity, embedded in every program, allows students to serve full-time alongside an experienced mentor in ministry, becoming a staff member of that agency or church during that time.

During their internships, students help and affirm each other via an online leadership class. They study leadership principles, goal setting, strategic planning, volunteer recruitment, vision casting, budgets, fundraising and resource management—testing these concepts and skills each week in their organizations. The six-month internship allows interns to become truly integrated into a worship community while gathering substantive knowledge and experience.

Crown College developed the Christian Ministry Department more than 20 years ago. Every faculty member brings substantial ministry field experience to their teaching along with their academic degrees. Through formal studies and practical training, students develop and shape their identity in Christ, and identify their singular talents and gifts for discipleship.

What can I do with a Christian Ministry degree?

Graduates of the Christian Ministry Department are renowned around the world for their outstanding work ethic, and thorough and sound foundation in bible studies. They’re people of integrity, with servant hearts. They leave Crown ready and able to engage in a life-long ministry of reproducing Christ in others.

Discipleship is more than concepts learned; it is a life transformed by the power of the Holy Spirit. To be successful, our students receive significant time in the field through our half-year internships. Whether the internship is in the United States or abroad, students get hands-on experience in real-life ministry settings.”

Christian Ministry Degree Programs

For each of our programs, the core of the curriculum is bible studies, with options for customization to prepare students to enact spiritual transformations in healthy disciples and in healthy churches. Leadership, preaching, evangelism, counseling, and discipleship ministries are common threads in every major. The classes are taught experientially as students participate in a local church to authenticate their classroom learning.

An immersive six-month internship during the junior year provides practical ministry experience. Qualified students are encouraged to study at Focus on the Family Institute in Colorado Springs for their internship, for both classroom and practicum experience. Students may select a minor or integrative electives in consultation with their academic advisor.
