Biography

I was a research associate on the Atlas of Early American History at the Newberry Library in Chicago from 1971 to 1975. I have been at Crown since 1976 teaching a variety of history courses. In the past, I have served as the chairman of the Humanities Department. In 2005, I received the Distinguished Service Award from the college. In March 2002 I gave a week-long series of lectures on American history at the Harbin Institute of Technology in northern China. My wife Judy and I were married in 1972. We have two grown children, both graduates of Crown. Our daughter is an elementary public school teacher and our son is a graduate student in social work. My wife and I are active members of the ParkSide Church of the CMA in Waconia.

Testimony

I was raised in an Alliance minister's home and at an early age gave my life to Christ. The impact of Christian summer camps was especially significant in my teen years. I can tesifiy to God's grace and faithfulness to me and my family over the many years since then. It is a privilege to teach at a Christian college where I am often encouraged in my faith by the testimonies of my students.
