Introducing...the Crown Nursing Pin!

We couldn't graduate a Nursing class without a Nursing pin!  So we set to work to create the perfect icon for Nursing at Crown College.

The nursing pin is believed to have its roots in the Crusader era, 1,000 years ago, when Christian crusaders wore the symbol of the Maltese Cross to signify their service to others. In the following centuries, this symbol of service was customized to represent family and government coats of arms, symbolizing one’s service to a ruler or community.

About 100 years ago, this badge of service now known as the nursing pin, began to be awarded by schools of nursing.  It is generally bestowed upon the graduating student, ceremonially, and then worn as part of the nurse’s uniform.  Modern design of the nursing pin usually bears the educational institution’s insignia.

The Crown nursing pin design was a collaborative effort between nursing students, nursing faculty and Crown’s own Marketing Department.  It incorporates the cross, the hands of Jesus, the two degrees earned and, of course, the Crown insignia, all of which combine to capture the essence of nursing at Crown in a beautiful way.  We think you will
