Biography

I began teaching piano at the age of 15, when my teacher began giving me students. I continued teaching through college, earning my B.A. in Piano Performance at Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, MN. I married fellow Gustavus musician Allan Hawkins, my husband of almost 32 years, who also teaches at Crown College, and the Lord blessed us with three children and, thus far, eight grandchildren. I have been president of the West Suburban Music Teachers Association for the past eight years, and also have served as chairperson for Guild centers in both New Ulm, MN and Plymouth, MN. I am very active in MMTA as a teacher and as a judge, and serve as an accompanist and pianist for Fourth Baptist Church (Plymouth) and for the musical organization Deo Cantamus ("We Sing for God").

Testimony

I placed my trust in Jesus Christ as my Savior in January of 1981, as a result of a convicting speaker at Christian Women's Club in Gaylord, MN. I praise God for preparing and softening my heart to recognize my own need for the Savior, and to grasp His worthiness of owning my life, as He is my Creator, my Sustainer, and my Redeemer.. It was two and a half years later that my husband came to Christ, and from that point on we have been serving the Lord together (hallelujah!).
