Biography

One of my greatest joys is serving as the adviser to the sophomore, junior, and senior nursing students at Crown. These students have been a great encouragement to me in my own spiritual walk and as I have been completing my Masters in Nursing Education through Indiana Wesleyan University. They pray with me when papers and projects are due and occasionally spoil me with my favorite snacks, Diet Mountain Dew and Peanut M&Ms, left at my office door. In addition to serving as the student's adviser, I manage the Nursing Lab and serve as a Clinical Instructor for older adult and acute care clinicals. I work on many administrative projects to support the Nursing Department as well as assist the faculty with labs and simulations. My husband, Dan, and I live in Monticello on the banks of the Mississippi River. We have two sons, Matt, who graduated from Crown in May 2008 and Chris, a freshman at Monticello High School. As a family we enjoy camping, movies, and eating out together.

Testimony

I grew up believing that if I behaved myself and lived up to the expectations of my parents; then I'd be able to have the things I wanted and dreamed about. It was kind of like "If I do my part then God will do His part." But bad things still happened...life still happened. Over time, I decided that I would be the one "in charge" of what happened to me. It took many years and a lot of pain for me to find my way back to God. I had made so many mistakes, I wondered how He could ever want me back. But He did. In His love, I found complete acceptance and forgiveness. I didn't have to "be" a certain way. He loved me as I was. That realization was the start of an incredible journey. A journey I still walk today.
