Elementary Education Degree Overview
The Bachelor degree in Elementary Education is designed for students who anticipate a career as an elementary teacher with a middle school or preschool endorsement, this program meets Minnesota’s current K-6 licensing requirements. The students must be accepted into the Teacher Education department. One prerequisite for acceptance into the Teacher Education Department is completion of the Praxis I or Pre-Professional Skills Test (PPST). Students will be required to pass the Praxis I and II before receiving their teaching licenses.

The mission of the Teacher Education Department is to develop classroom leaders by focusing on student’s interpersonal skills through the nurturing of human relationship. We value life-long learning and current educational theory and practice, focusing on professionalism, informed decision-making and reflective practice.
At the conclusion of the program, graduates are prepared to teach in public or private schools, Christian schools, schools abroad, including mission schools. The College is approved by the Minnesota Board of Teaching to offer the above programs leading to licensure and is also accredited by the Higher Learning Commission / North Central Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools. The program fulfills requirements for teacher certification or licensure in most states except those requiring a five-year program or additional specific courses.
