Music B.A. Overview
The mission of the Department of Music is to provide a biblically enhanced education in music that will affirm and promote the understanding that musical experiences enrich human culture. The Music Performance Major is designed for students interested in studying music within a biblical context. It is an appropriate program for students considering a performance career, private teaching, or graduate school.
The student may choose one of three areas in which to specialize: voice, instrumental, or keyboard. The program will not qualify students to be certified in public school music.
A spirit of excellence has long been the hallmark of the Crown College Music Department. This spirit continues as students and faculty alike dedicate themselves to the lifelong process of music making.
Music Department
Music at Crown College has a long and successful heritage. Based on the philosophy of “excellence in all things,” all music is rehearsed and performed to the glory of God. The purpose of the Music Department is to prepare men and women to become music educators in public and private schools, to train up competent and effective worship leaders, and to lay a strong foundation for future musical studies.
Students receive a comprehensive musical training, gain an aesthetic sensitivity, and develop a striving toward musical excellence. Students also gain professional experience through student teaching, church music practice, student ministries, and recitals. When you join other students participating in music at Crown College, you become a member of a long tradition of musical excellence. The Music Department strives to be on the cutting edge of musical performance and musical ministry. You will find a refreshing diversity in the student body and in musical taste, continually affirmed in the process of rehearsing and performing music to the glory of God.
