Music (B.A.)

Bachelor of Arts in Music

The B.A. in Music is a performance major designed for students interested in studying music within a biblical context. Students choose from one of three areas in which to specialize: voice, instrumental, or keyboard. In addition to perfecting their technique, expression and performance skills, students receive comprehensive musical training, acquire an aesthetic sensitivity that embraces diverse musical styles, and develop a striving toward musical excellence.

Students gain professional experience through student teaching, church music practice, student ministries, and recitals. The Music Department’s extensive performance opportunities range from recitals and musicals to positions in College Choir, Chamber Choir (both of which perform abroad biannually), Women's Choir, Crown Brass, Crown Orchestra, and Christmas in Crown Chapel.

The flexible B.A. in Music gives students dedicated to a life of making and performing music to God’s glory a variety of post-graduation options. They may pursue a master’s degree or performance career. Some work in a music-related business or industry. Others teach privately in a studio or academy. Our graduates work as church worship leaders, sing professionally with such esteemed Twin Cities groups such as the Minnesota Opera and VocalEssence, and have graduated with a Masters in Music from Cambridge University in England.
