Child and Family Ministry Degree

Bachelor of Arts

Child and Family Ministry Degree Overview

The mission of this major is to equip men and women to lead child and Christian family ministries. The Child and Family Ministry program’s strength is in learning how children think and behave. The Child and Family Ministry major focuses specifically on parent education and implementing strategies for programming and caring for children. The classes are taught experientially, and students participate in a local church to authenticate their classroom learning. Qualified students will be encouraged to study at Focus on the Family Institute in Colorado Springs for one semester, providing both classroom and internship experience.

Christian Ministry Department

The Christian Ministry Department exists to equip men and women as leaders to make disciples at all age levels. Matthew 28:19-20 provides the mandate to prepare vocational leaders for the local church and church-related ministries. The core of our education is biblical studies with a variety of options for leaders to make healthy disciples and healthy churches. Leadership, preaching, evangelism, counseling, and discipleship ministries are common threads in every major. An intensive internship during the junior year provides practical ministry experience.

With each major, students may select a minor or integrative electives in consultation with their academic advisor. Majors offered through the Christian Ministry Department (Pastoral Leadership, Child and Family Ministry, Discipleship Ministries, Youth Ministry, and Youth/Social Ministry) are designed to prepare pastors, Christian educators, children’s ministry directors, youth pastors, camp directors, missionaries and prekindergarten directors.
