Financial Aid Process

  1. Apply for admission to Crown College
  2. Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Crown's Title IV school code is 002383. The FAFSA is available via the internet, public library, or  the Crown Financial Aid office. It is advisable to complete and send the FAFSA before April 15th of the year you are applying for.
  3. Students must notify the Financial Aid Office of any private grants or scholarships they receive.  You can notify our office through e-mail, finaid(at)crown.edu
  4. About 30% of families are selected for verification of the information given on the FAFSA. If you are among those selected for verification, Crown's Financial Aid Office will contact you for more information.
  5. Crown College financial aid personnel will notify you when your financial aid is awarded. Contact the Financial Aid Office if you have questions about your award.  Grants and Scholarships are free monies that you don't have to repay.  Loans require additional applications.

What is BBAY?

There are two terms (fall and spring) per academic year. Since each term is more than 17 weeks in length, the Department of Ed requires the Financial Aid Office to use BBAY for Stafford Loans.

BBAY stands for Borrower-Based Academic Year. A student is in control of their own Stafford Loan eligibility. They need to earn 24 credits and complete 40 weeks of instruction to be eligible to borrow Stafford Loan again. If a student only completes 20 credits in the 2008-2009 academic year, they will need to successfully complete another 4 credits in Fall 2009 before they are eligible to borrow another Stafford Loan.
