The Promise Program is an educational program of Crown College in cooperation with St Paul Union Gospel Mission. Our mission is to teach and support women seeking self-suffiency by providing career training in computers, office skills, and personal development in a Christian setting. Promise offers:

  • six months of classroom instruction
  • six-week internships in local area businesses
  • an Administrative Office Professional Certificate from Crown College
  • a chance to improve clerical skills and self-esteem in a positive, supportive environment.

Admissions and Enrollment

Admissions

Candidates for admission are women who have experienced crises in their lives and who seek to learn skills that will allow them a fresh start leading to financial and emotional stability. They must have a high school diploma or equivalent (GED).

The application process consists of a personal interview with the program director, completing financial aid forms, and setting up an educational plan.

Tuition

Costs are covered through financial aid and scholarships to qualified students.

Schedule

Classes begin twice a year: In September, with graduation in May; and in January, with graduation in August.

Classes meet from 9:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Monday - Friday.

Standard Qualifications

  • Lived in Minnesota for at least one year
  • Have a high school diploma or GED
  • No student loans in default
  • Must be drug and alcohol free for at least one year
  • Have approval from your MFIP counselor (when applicable)
  • Must be able to attend five days a week (M-F) from 9:00am - 2:30pm
