President Rick Mann, Ph.D.
As President, Dr. Mann seeks to champion the centrality of Christ in our lives and the call to advance His kingdom work around the world.
Academic Background and Experience
Dr. Mann earned a B.S. in education from Western Michigan University, an M.Div. in cross-cultural/Chinese studies from Ambrose University College (Canada), an MBA from the University of Minnesota, and an M.A. and PhD. from Ohio State University in Foreign Language Education with a focus on English and Chinese linguistics.
Dr. Mann has served in a number of English faculty roles in the U.S. and Asia. He was the founding director of a Chinese language institute in China as well as the founding editor of an academic journal that continues to be published in China today. He currently teaches Leadership and Culture and Data-driven Decisions in Crown's graduate program.
Ministry Experience
He and his wife, Cheri, pastored with the Alliance in the U.S. for a number of years during which he worked with the C&MA National Office in establishing the Great Commission Coaching Network.
Professional Experience
Currently, much of Dr. Mann's research interests and professional work focuses on the areas of coaching, mentoring and leadership development. Each year he speaks in a number of settings on these topics. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Christian and Missionary Alliance and the board of Global Partners in Hope. He also serves as the international coordinator for the educators of the Alliance World Fellowship, an association of 125 educational institutions worldwide.
