It has been an exciting journey to see Crown’s nursing program become a reality. The first class of fourteen students received their nursing pin last spring. This fall there are 48 juniors and seniors enrolled in the school of nursing with more than 50 freshmen and sophomores preparing for future enrollment.

Last spring we received the national accreditation by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education. This highest level of accreditation demonstrates the high level of nursing education Crown students receives. The challenge is how to provide opportunities for more students to enroll in this costly program. To meet the need, we are seeking supporters who will give $5,000 to cover the cost of providing one new “seat” in the program.

Have you ever heard the expression “You only have one opportunity to make a first impression”? Research has shown that students are much more likely to enroll in a college after they have had an opportunity to visit the campus. As we work hard at growing Crown’s enrollment and representing Christ well in the community, we believe that our campus should reflect our passion and vision for excellence as well. This includes the College’s sign and landscaping at the campus entrance.

Our plan to remove the present plastic sign and stone base and replace it with a masonry product that will give both a classic and updated appearance and be modest in cost.

A document imaging system designed for higher education provides the most efficient means for storing, retrieving and distributing information. Electronically stored and indexed documents greatly reduce the need for photocopies and (fireproof) filing cabinets. This in turn would free up valuable space while providing a secure means of storing and distributing valuable information.

A document imaging system will equip offices to archive the records of the past, manage the records of the present, and equip us to face the future in a more efficient and effective manner.

Interactive Television Technology (ITV) enables live broadcasts to multiple remote locations. ITV capabilities can provide a Crown College education across the country and around the world, wherever other ITV classrooms are available.

As a temporary measure, we offer a web cam linkage to nursing students in southeastern Minnesota for those who are unable to drive the 150 mile round trip to the main campus. Next year, the Owatonna Hospital will be opening a classroom for Crown nursing students, and they will need ITV linkage with the main campus in St. Bonifacius.

This is the third year for the Creative Media track within the Communication major. Communication technologies change rapidly; it is important stay on the cutting edge. Your gift will help ensure that our students are using industry standard equipment and techniques in our communications media lab. The project includes the cost of audio and video production equipment and minimal construction expense.

Crown seeks to identify new academic programs that can strategically advance the work of God’s kingdom around the world. One of these brand-new majors is Social Entrepreneurship. Your investment in the program will provide for the cost of program development, marketing the program and grants and scholarships to worthy students.

Just as entrepreneurs change the face of business, social entrepreneurs act as change agents by inventing ways to improve society. This program brings business, social services, and Christian ministry together. Graduates will be able to work in the United States and abroad in areas that will bring life change to both individuals and communities. Specific areas of work include health care, community development, development of micro-industries, and for-profit social services, to name just a few.

In the past three years over 300 Crown students has traveled on short-term missions trips. The College holds this up as a high value to the fulfillment of our mission to develop the next generation of leaders for global impact.
Though the mission teams are for the most part student led they each have a faculty or staff member who serves as a mentor to the group. Your investment provides subsidy to supplement the cost of faculty and staff to participate.

Based upon a survey of several similar sized colleges Crown College is well behind in the ratio of students to lab facility size and equipment available. To bring Crown College’s science laboratory space more in line with facilities of colleges similar in size, the space must be expanded as well as brought up to health and safety standards.

Crown College will provide a fully equipped, up-to-date science laboratory space that will meet all health and safety standards and serve as an excellent academic learning environment for all students requiring the sciences. The plan is to renovate the existing lab infrastructure and provide updated chemical exhaust hoods, and electrical systems.
