Testimony

I grew up in a Christian home and attended as many summer Bible camps as my parents would allow. It was at one of those camps, as a missionary spoke, that I really understood, for the first time, what it meant to accept Jesus as my Lord and Savior. I was blessed to come under many wonderful Christian mentors in my teen years, and attended a Christian high school. I truly believe, through the good times and bad, that God has prepared my each step of the way for my role here at Crown.

Favorite Verse?

Too many to count, but: Zephaniah 3:17, (NLT) "For the Lord your God is living among you. He is a mighty savior. He will take delight in you with gladness. With his love, he will calm all your fears. He will rejoice over you with joyful songs."

Vickie Kyarsgaard works with Crown’s nursing students to develop the necessary competencies in order to deliver safe and effective patient care. Her classes are demanding – even life changing – and offer an ideal mix of Christian education with nursing skills and service. This, she maintains, is what makes Crown a unique college with a unique nursing program. She brings excellence to the classroom by offering the best evidence-based curriculum that prepares students as professional generalists. Students who take Vickie’s classes are ready to step out in life-long learning and service wherever God calls them.

Vickie Kyarsgaard has been an R.N. for 38 years and an educator for 16. Her professional certification is in Inpatient Obstetrics and has practiced in the area of Maternal-Child health for most of her career. Vickie has taught A&P, Med-Terms, and Nursing Assistant courses at a vocational school and has written nursing curriculum. Outside of the Crown community, Vickie participates in adult education and cultural awareness development for nursing students. She is affiliated with several professional organizations for Community Health and Nursing Education.
