I had the privilege of being raised in a Christian home where I saw a deep love for Christ modeled through my parents. Attending church was at the center of our home and at the age of eight, I accepted Christ as my personal Savior. During my junior year of high school I came to know Christ in a deeply personal way and dedicated my life solely to Him. Choosing a Christian college was an easy decision for me. I attended Bethel University (St. Paul, MN). My four years as an undergrad at Bethel and then the following two years at Bethel Theological Seminary cemented my faith in Christ. During my senior year at Bethel, I felt God’s call on my life to dedicate my profession to Him. I have never doubted my faith or my decision to make Christ first in my life. He is my daily inspiration and motivation for living the best life I can. As a husband, parent, grandparent, and Christian educator, I receive my daily guidance and strength from Him. I do not see Christ as someone who is to be held at an arm’s length away. He is always with me, surrounding me with His love and grace.
Any lifestyle considerations that I make are wrapped within my philosophy of leadership, which I believe must follow a biblical model of servant leadership. Because I have been given gifts of leadership and have been able to use those gifts throughout my career, it is vital that I understand this precept.
Favorite Bible verse:
Exodus 15:2 The LORD is my strength and song, and He has become my salvation; He is my God, and I will praise Him; my father’s God, and I will exalt Him.
