How Your Program Is Unique Here:
I incorporate “Three E’s” that represent the vision and values of the Communication Department: excellence in academics, experiential in nature and executed through a Christian worldview.

From A Career Standpoint, What Students Will Be Prepared To Do With A Degree From Your Program:
Students of the Communication Department will graduate prepared to fulfill professional roles in the areas of marketing and PR, advertising, dramatic arts, digital design, relational communication and theatre arts. They will also be prepared for positions in ministry or for graduate studies.

I grew up in a church, but it wasn’t until I was a senior in high school that I fully understood my need for a savior and surrendered my life to Christ.

Favorite Bible Verses:
“Delight thyself also in the LORD: and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart” – Psalm 37:4 (KJV)
“And of some have compassion,” – Jude 22 (KJV).

Before Crown:
I was a professor at Pensacola Christian College for 18 years where I served on the Theatrical Production Team as Production Coordinator and directed dozens of shows.

What You Enjoy Most About Teaching at Crown:
The freedom to integrate faith and learning. We can view the arts through a biblical lens and see them as a proof for the existence of the divine. We serve a creative God who has given us the ability to be creative. I believe the Communication Arts department at Crown is different from other school’s communication programs because of the strong practical element that each student engages in through the course of their studies. Through the communication practicum, students gain real-life experience in video, photography, marketing, radio, digital design and theatre production. The practicums work to build experience and portfolio, which lead to internships and ultimately job placement.

What Students Say About Your Classes:
They would say I am a kind, caring professor both in and outside of the classroom. I want my students to be successful and I inspire them through my passion and knowledge for what I study.

What You Would Say to Parents of Prospective Students About Having Their Son/Daughter at Crown:
We, at Crown, are a family. We want your student to grow academically, spiritually and professionally. We strive for excellence in academics. We want the students’ time to be experiential. We want them to do what they are learning; there is a strong hands-on component to our curriculum. Also, we strive to incorporate faith in learning to give them a vision for what can be accomplished beyond the classroom in ministry. As a department we are actively sponsoring communication-based mission trips through the ICE (Intercultural Experiences) office. We have taken groups to Mexico, Peru, California, Florida and South East Asia.
