  • DUTIES:Camp High Hopes, a new camp for children, teens, and adults with disabilities in Sioux City, IA, seeks service-minded, compassionate summer staff interested in helping to facilitate a safe, fun and fulfilling summer experience for campers of all ages. Our summer staff helps further the camp’s mission to provide a safe, fun, and adaptive recreational experience for people with disabilities through daily interactions with campers in our Day and Sleep-Away (Overnight) Camps. Camp staff act as the primary caregivers for campers with disabilities by providing needed personal care assistance and activity adaptation. A summer at Camp High Hopes provides the opportunity for college students and young adults to gain vital job skills and experience, while growing personally and professionally. Positions include: Sleep-Away Counselors, Activity Leaders, Lifeguards and Day Camp Counselors.

Some campers exhibit behavioral challenges. Patience, energy, good judgment and enthusiasm are important qualifications for a position at Camp Courageous. The hours are long. An unselfish attitude and an emphasis on teamwork are needed. Staff are expected to put the campers’ needs before their own.   • DUTIES:Camp Courageous is a year-round recreational and respite care facility for individuals with disabilities. Campers with intellectual and physical disabilities, brain injuries, hearing or visual impairments, autism and other special needs are served. Volunteer positions, internships, and paid positions are available. Volunteers and Interns can receive an optional stipend of $25.00/week plus room and board, and a restricted medical plan. Paid counselors and activity specialists receive the best employment package around. Seasonal staff earn $385/week.
