fold faq Children (Youth) Minister/Worker

Posted: 03/19/14

  • QUALIFICATIONS:Forest Hills United Methodist Church in Forest Lake (a northern suburb of the Twin Cities) is seeking to hire a staff position to minister with families in our community who have children and youth (starting off half time). We wish to consider a student who is nearing the end of his or her degree program. We are planning to offer a half time position from July 2014 through May of 2015. By summer of 2015 we would consider expanding this to a full-time position if the person is a good fit and the ministries among children and youth are growing. Qualifications we are looking for include a passionate heart for Jesus, a primacy of authority on the Bible, a love for God’s “kids,” a growing reliance on the Holy Spirit, an innovative approach to engage with new families in the community, a desire to work with others in order to do ministry together, and a willingness to learn from the senior pastor and other mentors.
  • DUTIES:The position will have primary responsibility over the ways our congregation engages children in our communities (infant through grade school). Current ministries include Sunday morning Kids Church, Wednesday night AWANA program and a week in August of Vacation Bible Camp. In addition the position will have limited oversight over the nurture of youth (Grades 7-12). Current ministries include two confirmation classes and one youth group, each with their own leaders. The congregation is intentionally hiring a staff position that will connect with the children, youth, and families in our community rather than just lead these existing ministries of our congregation. This desire is expressed in our ministry plan as “Action Item #1: We are committed to loving and serving families in our community with children, youth and young adults, and expect an increase of families who make Forest Hills their church home.” Thus we are looking for someone to bring innovation and new energy that will lead to growth both in the quality of our ministry and in the connections made with those not a part of our congregation. At this point we feel God may be leading us to seek someone who has a primary focus on ministry with children and a secondary focus on youth. We are, however, open to considering candidates with a primary youth focus. We have agreed that we will hire “the person” and create the ministry he or she does around his or her passions and skills. FHUMC is a Bible-based United Methodist congregation in Forest Lake, MN. We worship about 110 on Sunday, of whom 10 are in Kids Church. There are currently about 60 kids in the AWANA program, 7 in confirmation, 5 in youth group, and we had about 40 last summer at Vacation Bible Camp. At this point we feel God may be leading us to seek someone who has a primary focus on ministry with children and a secondary focus on youth. We are, however, open to considering candidates with a primary youth focus. We have agreed that we will hire “the person” and create the ministry he or she does around his or her passions and skills. Those seeking to open a discussion about this ministry position are invited to send a resume and letter of interest to Rev. David Werner at , or call at 651-464-5249. Job posting open until April 30, 2014

fold faq Children (Youth) Minister/Worker

Job posting open until April 30, 2014

fold faq Children (Youth) Minister/Worker

  • LOCATION: Forest Hills United Methodist Church, Forest Lake, MN
  • DAYS/HOURS: Half time, starting July 2014. Days and hours negotiable.

fold faq Children (Youth) Minister/Worker

  • LOCATION: Forest Hills United Methodist Church, Forest Lake, MN
  • DAYS/HOURS: Half time, starting July 2014. Days and hours negotiable.
  • WAGE: $1,400 per month plus health insurance coverage

fold faq Children (Youth) Minister/Worker

We are, however, open to considering candidates with a primary youth focus. We have agreed that we will hire “the person” and create the ministry he or she does around his or her passions and skills.
