fold faq Music Teacher

Posted: 06/20/14

  • QUALIFICATIONS:A part-time music teacher is needed for grades K-5 for 2014-2015. Ideal teaching candidates would have experience or familiarity with the Kodaly method. At Agape Christi Academy, music is not an elective. The Lord commands that His people worship through song out of love for Himself (Psalm 66:1-2, Psalm 68:4) and love for others (Colossians 3:16, Ephesians 5:19). It is therefore imperative for Christian students to learn to sing, particularly the Psalms. The Bible tells of several men and women who were not musicians by profession and yet composed music unto the Lord. It is our goal then for all students to learn how to sing and compose with joy and skill for the glory of God and cultural transformation.
  • DUTIES:Lower school students learn how to read music through solmization, rhythm-duration syllables, and Curwen hand signs. In future years, upper school students will focus on musical analysis, composition, and performance.
