Bethany House Publishers, Bloomington, MN

DESCRIPTION: Bethany House Publishers is a Christian fiction and nonfiction book publisher located in Bloomington, Minnesota. A summer internship with Bethany House is designed to give candidates a glimpse into the world of Christian publishing from one of the leading houses in the industry. Interns will have the opportunity to experience a variety of roles and functions during their time. This program is designed not only as excellent work experience but as an invaluable, firsthand opportunity for career planning.

This is an unpaid position open only to students currently enrolled in college. Students must work with their college or university to allow this internship to count for college credit. The intern program managers will partner with the intern to complete necessary materials to assist interns in receiving school credit.

Tasks to include reading and responding to queries, reviewing manuscripts, proofreading, market research, copywriting, maintaining databases, and special projects. Interns will be given the opportunity to attend strategy and planning meetings, shadow professionals in various departments, and provide opinions on creative projects. Our goal is to have the intern leave the program with a broad understanding of the Christian book publishing world.

Program Overview:
Duration — 10 weeks from early-June to mid-August, depending on school schedule
Hours — 10-15 hours a week

Program Requirements:
Candidates must be enrolled in a four-year bachelor’s degree program, entering their junior or senior year. They must be majoring in English, Creative Writing, Journalism, Communications, or a related degree program.

Accelerate offers practical hands-on ministry leadership opportunities working with Saddleback Church's staff, as well as access to some of the most respected church pastors and ministry leaders in the country.

Apprentices will be engaged in at least 40-50 hours of weekly hands-on ministry leadership training and 3.5 hours of weekly classroom training centered on learning and developing healthy personal leadership habits, a healthy philosophy of ministry leadership, and healthy methods or ministry leadership. This combination of hands-on real world experience with specialized training in methods and strategies combines to create a healthy leader, which is at the heart of a healthy church.

 We don't believe that you have to have a certain major, or attend a certain college to be a ministry leader. We want to equip and empower people of all majors, degrees, and colleges to pursue their calling and desire to lead and serve in ministry.

Current college student or recent college or seminary graduates who are pursuing a church staff ministry role. Current church staff members who are seeking to significantly upgrade their ministry skills and experience.

WHAT:

Leading: Full-time, 40-50 hour a week, un-paid residency. The exact schedule is worked out with a ministry team leader based on the needs of the specific ministry a participant will be involved with. The emphasis will be on developing effective leadership through hands-on leadership opportunities.

Learning: Receive 3.5 hours of weekly classroom training that develops healthy personal leadership habits, a healthy philosophy of ministry leadership, and healthy methods of ministry leadership. We focus on who you are as a leader, the vision of a leader, and the work of leading.

Leaning: Grow as a leader and as a disciple of Christ through a close mentoring relationship with Saddleback pastors and staff.

How:
Discover (Months 1-4)
Develop your understanding of effective ministry leadership, strategies, and methods through hands-on, practical, relevant leadership opportunities.

Develop (Months 5-8)
Continue developing as an effective leader while you increase your skills, and gain more leadership experience as we walk alongside you.

Deploy (Months 9-12)
Spend 4 months on a Saddleback multi-site church campus leading your ministry and putting all your skills, strategies, methods, and knowledge to work.

World Relief, Nashville, TN

World Relief Nashville is a Christian, refugee resettlement organization. Each year we welcome hundreds of refugees from around the world who are coming to the Nashville to start their lives again after facing persecution and violence in their home countries. Interns assist in accomplishing our mission and vision to see refugees transformed socially, economically and spiritually.

Intern objectives focus on building relationships with local refugee families through development programs. Interns get a full resettlement agency experience as they work alongside our staff. The Intern Immersion Program’s three main components include:
