Various Teaching Positions- at Xining International Academy- China

  • ABOUT: XIA is a school located in Xining, Qinghai—on the edge of the Tibetan plateau.  It is a city that has been called the “wild west” of China.  (This is really not the case anymore.)  Xining is the provincial capital of Qinghai and is basically the only major city in the province.  It has a population of about a million people with many modern conveniences. XIA is a Christian school for the foreign community living in Xining.  We currently have approximately 95 students from preK to grade 12.  Over the last few years, XIA has been growing by 10 to 15 new students each year.  As I look at the foreign community, I don’t see the growth of XIA slow down any time soon.  I anticipate that we should be well over 100 students in the fall of 2010.
  • POSITIONS: Due to this growth, XIA is in need of a number of new teachers in both the elementary and secondary levels.  Our needs for next school year are: preK/Kindergarten Teacher, 2nd Grade Teacher, 4rd Grade Teacher, 5th Grade Teacher, English/Bible Teacher-Secondary, Math Teacher-Secondary, and Science Teacher-Secondary
  • QUALIFICATIONS: In order to teach at XIA, you will need to have at least a bachelor’s degree and a teaching certificate from your home country. We are hoping that new teachers agree to teach for a minimum of two years.  This is open to discussion but the reason for this is the fact that it does take some time to get used to life in another culture.
  • WAGE: The salary is 3000 RMB/mo and 500 RMB/mo, which is enough to live on in Xining for a single teacher.  XIA will pay for all the visa expenses to come including up to 3 dependants.  The teacher will need to use this salary for their China living expenses—apartment rent, utilities, food, etc.  XIA will help find an apartment for the teacher and get the teacher set up with living life.  For couples and families, this compensation is usually not enough.  For this reason, they will need to raise financial support to cover living expenses. It does need to be understood that this compensation does not cover health insurance or travel expenses to and from their home country.  Health insurance is required of all our teachers and must include emergency evacuation.  It must be obtained before coming to China.  Again, most people will need to raise financial support to cover these extra expenses.
  • TO APPLY: Teacher Application Procedure: These are the items that you will need to provide us in order to apply for one of our teaching positions. Application Form (contact Brian Crawford for an application form) Your resume or c.v. Copy of Bachelor’s degree certificate or highest degree earned, Copy of Certificate qualifying you as a teacher, 2 Letters of Recommendation with contact info: Supervisor, preferably someone who has seen you teach, Pastor or spiritual leader, Interview with the Principal via Skype (preferred) or phone WEBSITE: www.xiningxia.org or www.mmbolding.com/teaching/index.html FOR MORE INFORMATION: Brian at brian.crawford@xiningxia.org

  • Position Type: Full Time Job
  • Location: Nationwide in the United States.  Preferably near a large concentration of colleges and universities.
  • Description: Primarily, your task is to invest in relationships on campuses throughout one region of the United States. You will build relationships with campus ministers, college pastors, professors, deans and ministry leaders. Through these relationships, it is your goal to draw qualified students into the Café 1040 application process. As you meet missions minded students you will engage them in a relationship through face-to-face interactions, phone calls and emails encouraging them to begin the online application process if that is their best next step. It is your general responsibility to help ministries and churches grow in their vision of missions to include an accurate Biblical missions theology of reaching the whole world with the gospel. Further, anything that you can do to assist such a ministry, minister, or student to be better equipped to reach the unreached is also part of your role. This may include helping to connect students or ministries to our partners, or involving other Café 1040 staff to come and speak to a group about the unreached.
  • Your job description is very broad and as you are accomplishing these goals, you will also be helping the Café 1040 team with mutual goals such as obtaining university course credit for our program, fundraising for the general ministry, making new connections and partners, and recruiting new staff. But in a nutshell, your job description is to “become the person campus ministers know who can help their students be connected in the world of missions.”
