• ABOUT: XIA is a school located in Xining, Qinghai—on the edge of the Tibetan plateau.  It is a city that has been called the “wild west” of China.  (This is really not the case anymore.)  Xining is the provincial capital of Qinghai and is basically the only major city in the province.  It has a population of about a million people with many modern conveniences.
