Church Planter - C&MA, Central Pacific District

WHO: Ray Van Gilst, the Director of Church Planting for the Central Pacific District (CPD) of the C&MA.

WHAT: The dream of the CPD is, “To build a network of reproducing churches by developing the right leaders in the right ways in order to make maximum Kingdom impact.”  Ray is also a certified coach with Creative Results Management and has logged over 200 coaching hours with pastors and church planters.  He and his wife Donice are alumni of Crown, and his son Jonathon is a current student.

The major urban areas they are currently targeting for new churches are San Francisco, Sacramento, Salt Lake City, Las Vegas, and Honolulu.  They have also been challenged to make a wish list of communities throughout the Central Pacific District that need churches.  Pastors and lay leaders have been listing cities to target as they sense God’s leading, and have so far targeted 14 communities across California, Nevada, Utah, and American Samoa.  Please feel free to pick up information on those communities from his table.  You may also take a look on his website: www.launchingchurchesthatmultiply.com

While he is here on Friday and Saturday, he is willing to meet with anyone who is considering planting a church, and will plan on hosting a dinner for those interested Friday night.  If you are wondering if this is for you, he is also prepared to do an evaluation with you based on the Ridley assessment, a tool based on the 13 characteristics of a church planter. According to Dr. Charles Ridley, a concise description of the ideal church planter is, “A godly person with good relational skills, who excels in leadership and communication, and has a passion for reaching the unchurched and producing disciples.”

Ray is also willing to explain how he trains, prepares, and resources people for planting churches.

WHEN: Friday March 26th, 11AM - 1PM in the main Cafeteria. - While he is here on Friday and Saturday, he is willing to meet with anyone who is considering planting a church, and will plan on hosting a dinner for those interested Friday night.
