Crown Awards Premier Scholarships
$15K JD Williams Scholarship awarded to two; Eight $12K Departmental Scholarships awarded and several Presidential & Trustee Scholarships given.
Crown College held its first premier scholarship event recently in which students competed for scholarships ranging from $12,000 to $15,000. These scholarships are intended for those with high academic grades and high ACT/SAT scores.
Despite poor road conditions due to a winter storm the day before the event, many students and families attended the event with some having to drive several hours. Three international students also participated as Crown faculty interviewed them using SKYPE.
Mike Price, Vice President of Enrollment Services, said "The students were great and Crown was blessed to have them on campus. We selected a total of 10 winners for the JD Williams and Department Scholarships, but in my opinion all of these students are winners with their high academic ability. These students will be a great addition to the Crown College campus and we are excited to have them next fall."
The JD Williams Scholarship, named after the founder of Crown College, is for $15,000; two students received this high honor. Another eight students received Departmental Scholarships, each worth $12,000. Several others received Presidential and Trustee Scholarships worth between $9,000 - $10,000. To be eligible, students needed to have a minimum ACT score of 27.
