Crown and KleinBank Reach Naming Rights Deal for KleinBank Stadium
Donation from Minnesota's largest family-owned bank completes $2.4 million project
Crown College and KleinBank announced the latest achievement of our nearly 30-year relationship--KleinBank Stadium. The new complex, which opens on September 6-7, 2013, was made possible because of KleinBank's sizable donation.
Representatives from the Klein family, both third and fourth generation, were on hand at Crown during a July 11 ceremony to celebrate the announcement. Along with the Klein family, many of the bank's leadership participated, as did dozens from Crown's faculty, staff, Cabinet, and Board. In addition, the mayors of St. Bonifacius and Waconia and several Council members from Waconia and Chaska took part in the ceremony, which was held outside near the construction site.
The $2.4 million project will have seating on both sides and hold more than 1300 fans. In addition, the field will feature state-of-the-art synthetic turf, lights for evening games, and a press box with full audio and video streaming capabilities. The multipurpose stadium, which will also host community athletic events, is being build by Mortenson Construction, builders of more than 100 sports and entertainment venues including Target Field.
"Our relationship with KleinBank started with an institutional checking account, and flourished because of our shared values--integrity, responsibility, community service, and community development," said Joel Wiggins, Crown College president.
"The KleinBank Stadium name reflects our relationship and Crown's appreciation of their continued support."
KleinBank provides personal banking services to hundreds of Crown students, faculty, and staff. The bank has financed Crown's gymnasium addition in 2000, two dorm buildings in 2001, a new library in 2006, the remodels of Strohm & Richardson Halls in 2012.
"We're confident that the synergy between KleinBank and Crown College will continue long into the future, as the values of the Klein family are so closely aligned with those of the College," said Doug Hile, president and CEO of KleinBank. "We are thrilled to be able to assist in the stadium project and be part of their future.
KleinBank Stadium's grand opening is at 7:00 p.m. on September 7, 2013, when Crown faces Macalester in football "under the lights"--the first time ever for a Crown home game! The event, which includes activities throughout the day, coincides with KleinBank's Community Days, Thursday through Saturday, Sept. 5 - 7. (More KleinBank grand opening information will follow.)
