Teacher Education Chair

Full-time, tenure-track faculty to chair and teach in the Teacher Education Department starting July 1, 2008

Qualifications:  

 The candidate:  

  • Should possess a desire to teach and work with undergraduate education students in a Christian environment and a commitment to integrating faith in learning and teaching. The chair position is not a permanent assignment, but one that cycles periodically among capable Teacher Education faculty.
  • Must hold a Master’s Degree in Education or a teaching discipline, however, a recent Ph.D /Ed.D or ABD preferred. 
  • Should possess a consistent service record in the area of education.
  • Must have relevant K-12 teaching experience. Support for both public and private schools must be a high priority.
  • Should have a solid academic background in at least one specialty area of teaching, i.e. in foundational classes (Ed. Psy., Foundations of Ed.) or in curriculum and instruction—Social Studies preferred.
  • Must possess a level of understanding regarding the nature and processes of higher education in general and of teacher preparation in particular.
  • Should have a commitment to follow God’s leading in personal, professional, and institutional life, and a record of high integrity and morality, both personally and professionally.
  • Must agree with the Crown College Mission, the Statement of Faith, and the Community Covenant.

 Responsibilities: 


 The candidate must: 

  • Communicate effectively with students, colleagues, and administration. Willingly take the lead, yet delegate appropriate tasks and decisions; lead the department collaboratively.
  • Support Crown’s global and cross-cultural perspective, ideally cultivated through international teaching, mission service, or other such means.
  • Use technology tools, such as the departmental data base and presentation software, and support for the development of learning technology within the Department and in the preparation of new teachers.
  • Attend and participate in professional teacher education activities, including MACTE meetings, MACTE-sponsored Teacher Ed. Congresses, and other professional organizations appropriate to the individual’s discipline or teaching area.
  • Serve as an advisor to Teacher Education students, serve on faculty committees and commit to church and community service involvement.
