CROWN CHAMBER CHOIR RECEIVES POSITIVE REVIEW FROM SALZBURG CATHEDRAL MUSIC DIRECTOR

The Crown College Chamber Choir recieved the following review from Janos Czifra, the Music Director of the Salzburg (Austria) Cathedral. The choir joined the Cathedral Choir in a performance of Missa in labore requies by Georg Muffat on June 8, 2003.

"...It was a pleasure to make music together with this choir. They did an excellent job learning the music, and handled the acoustically demanding Cathedral well. We have not had another guest choir that produced music so splendidly. Their participation on Pentecost Sunday gave a special impetus for this important celebration. The technically challenging motets as sung under the direction of Dr. Donelson were anticipated with great interest, and were beautifully successful. The outer voices of the choir gave the music definitive contours, and the inner voices sang their accompanying parts with much expression. The energetic sound of the choir contributed a polished freshness to the occassion. Our Archbishop, Dr. Alois Kothgasser, expressed his gratitude saying, it as a glimpse of heavenly harmony..." CROWN CHAMBER CHOIR TOURS EUROPE

The Crown Chamber Choir, under the direction of Dr. David Donelson, was invited to perform with the Resident Choir of the Salzburg (Austria) Cathedral on Pentecost Sunday, June 8, 2003. This was the second invitation the Chamber Choir had received from the Cathedral's Music Department and its Director, Janos Czifra. Other concerts were presented in Gosau and Hallstadt, Austria, Traunreut, Germany, and Luzern, Switzerland.

Reviews of the choir's performance included:

"...the Crown Chamber Choir from America sang with technical skill and great musical artistry. They produced a shimmering tone and an exquisite full sound..." Traunreut, Germany

"...the Crown Chamber Choir, under the direction of Dr. David Donelson, sang as if one voice. Their commitment to the music and their unwavering focus made it seem like they could read the conductor's mind and interpret exactly what he wanted them to do even before he showed them with his conducting pattern..." Salzburg, Austria
