Thor Benson enters his first year as head baseball coach.  Coach Benson graduated from Wheaton College with a Bachelor's degree in Kinesiology with a minor in coaching.  He also holds teaching certificates in physical science, physical education, and history.  Benson went on to Bethel University where he earned his Master's degree in Educational Leadership.  He comes to Crown with five years of experience in K-8 education in physical education, physical science education, and through his role as Athletic Director.  For the past five years, Benson has coached the men's and women's varsity and junior varsity lacrosse teams at Eden Prairie High School.

While attending Wheaton, Coach Benson earned a varsity letter for the Thunder football team as the long snapper.  As a sophomore, he transitioned to the lacrosse team where he became a 3-year starter and captain.  During his senior year, Benson played defense and coached his team to a 7-4 season.

"I am very excited to coach and mentor this group of Christian men both on and off the field as we strive to develop ourselves as athletes and individuals.  I truly believe this is a great time for Crown baseball!"

Coach Benson resides in Eden Prairie with his wife Kettie and their daughter, Molly.
