Federal Work Study Program

The Federal Work-Study program provides on-campus jobs for undergraduate students with financial need, allowing them to earn money to help pay for educational expenses.

Eligibility for Work-Study

Students who qualify for Federal Work-Study have the opportunity to work on campus through the Work-Study program.  Job opportunities are awarded on the basis of need.  A student must complete the FAFSA to determine eligibility. Students who qualify for work-study will receive a work-study application with their initial financial aid award letter.

Work-Study is not treated the same as other forms of financial aid which are available for disbursement near the beginning of a semester.   Work-Study awards are considered earning potential.  Students must work their hours before receiving work-study wages.  Students are paid monthly by check, and may use their earnings for personal expenses or to make payments on their school bill.

On-Campus Jobs

There are many campus jobs available to eligible students each year.  The major areas of employment are: library, maintenance, faculty assistants, clerical/typing, housekeeping, admissions counselor, and phone receptionist.

Applying for a Job

Job openings are posted outside the Financial Aid Office.  Once the student has found a job that they are interested in, the student would contact the job supervisor to apply.   It is the student's responsibility to locate a job on campus.  Most new positions are filled during new student week in August.

How much do I get paid?

The starting wage is $7.00/hour.  Although the wage varies depending on the skills required for the job, job performance, and years of employment.

How many hours do I work and how will I be paid?
